The messages are spread out in 3D-space based on their semantic mapping. Each message was converted into a numerical representation called an embedding, then positioned within the map.

Simply put, messages with similar meaning and form are positioned closer together.

The bird songs you hear are synthesised from the content of the messages, with sentiment analysis (detection of the “mood” of the message) determining which virtual bird species vocalises the message.

Together, this allows you to spatially explore the interactions that people have had with BIRD. You can also let it play in the background, and come back if you hear an intriguing bird song, to look at which message it was singing.
